This past Saturday, September 15th I was riding in a golfcart near our home at Lake Rabon in Laurens County when I saw a strange bird crossing the road. To be honest I thought it was a Kiwi bird - having worked for Kiwi (the shoe polish company) a number of years ago. I quickly drove home to get a camera and upon return spotted the bird again - he really blended in. I got close enough to get the picture before he flew away - Kiwi's don't fly.
I had my golden retriever along for the ride - and she never saw it - turns out it is an American Woodcock; a rare sight and photo opportunity. (This photo has been viewed 2694 times)
